I’m Malori, and I love budgets (and box wine).
That much should be apparent, but I can make you love budgets too! The box wine may be the real challenge.
Too many people feel lost when it comes to their finances because they think it’s just too hard. They’re missing the creativity and fun that comes from actively designing your best life. That’s where I can help! No two budgets are the same, because no two people are the same. I look at your priorities and values and make sure that your spending plan is working for you, not against you.
I graduated from school ten years ago with a six-figure student loan, and no idea how the corporate grind really works. All I knew was that those loans were going to stand in the way of me living my best life. So, I tackled that debt in less than five years. All the while, I was getting lots of questions all centered around the same idea – I seemed to have this money thing figured out. I shared my financial insights with an energy I never showed in my day-to-day work. I was on to something.
My passion for personal finance was put to the test when I got laid-off from my corporate job just three days before my wedding – not ideal, but because of my planning, not a catastrophe either. As I spent the next few months hustling to never miss a paycheck, I saw former coworkers face real challenges. It lit a desire in me to help normal people see past the numbers to design their best life. I re-entered the workforce a good deal richer, with a better understanding of myself and what it looks like to live my best life.
It looks a lot like me, sitting across from you, having a real discussion about your money.
The Fun:
- My wonderfully supportive family consists of a husband, one-year-old son, and a rescue dog of questionable age.
- I love to knit when I have more than a few minutes to actually sit quietly – so I guess it would be more correct to say I know how to knit.
- If N’SYNC had a reunion tour, I’d be in the front row. No shame.
- Because I know so little about sports, I listen to sports radio on my commute so I can have meaningful sports-related
debatesconversations with my husband. - The discipline I possess when it comes to spending and saving does not translate to putting away clean laundry.
- My happy temperature is between 72 and 72.5 degrees. I live in the Midwest – you do the math.
- I am a walking encyclopedia of movie trivia.
- I have a love/hate relationship with the gym – I love the feeling once I’ve gone, but I hate getting up to go.
- My Patronus is a French Bulldog.
- Clearly, I love to read.
The Fundamental:
- I like school – I have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Master’s degree in Business Administration, and a Juris Doctorate (fancy talk for a law degree).
- I have corporate experience in accounting, project management, and business and legal consulting.
